Outing to Sembawang ParkDear all,
This coming saturday will be an outing to Sembawang Park! For those who seldom come for fellowship, do join us for the fun :)
We'll be meeting at 2.30pm at Sembawang Mrt Control Station.
Below is a sharing from me:
(John 12:1-11)
I suppose all of you have read about Mary who wiped Jesus's feet with an expensive perfume at the dinner. I was reading this bible passage, and I was wondering, what would i do if i were at the dinner? Or what could possibly be going on in my mind?
Judas, who thought he had raised a good point, asked why didn't they sell the perfume and give the money to the poor. Jesus answered by saying, "You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me."
Viewing from a christian's point of view in this century, we can "easily understand" why Jesus said that because we are always told that God sent his son to die for us and having God with us is such a wonderful thing and we should always treasure it.
But what will be your very FIRST reaction or thought if u imagine yourself to be at the dinner and you see Mary wiping Jesus's feet with a very expensive perfume which costs you around a year of your salary? Remember it all happened at that time when there were so many doubts about Jesus among the people.
Will you find Jesus to be an arrogant guy who thinks he himself is a precious gem? Is your faith deep enough to believe that HE exists and accepts he is your saviour and is willing to give up EVERYTHING for him?
That means to surrender to God totally and offering yourself to him. Offering yourself to God is what worship is all about.
