Thank God for a the wonderful camp we had last week!

I truly learnt a lot from the book of James, and I hope you guys did too. I also enjoyed the 4 days we had living together and getting to know each other more.

Also, thank God for a wonderful year Timothy Fellowship has had, and I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank the committee of 2010 for sacrificing time and effort to serve our God.

As we approach 2011, let's continue to trust God in providing for our needs.

Hi all,

Thanks for keeping the mission trip team in your prayers. We reached Singapore at about 11pm last night after spending a meaningful week serving God in 大谷地.

There's prayer meeting tomorrow in church at 7.30pm - our fellowship is in charge and we'll be praying for our fellowship. Please do come down since it's the holidays already and we're all relatively carefree.

Lastly, if you haven't submitted your camp registration form, please do so to either Jacky or Guo Feng as soon as possible. Thanks!

Hello, hello!

I'm so sorry this post is kind of last minute, but here are some important details for tomorrow's Stephen Tong Gospel Rally.

Children's Gospel Rally
Time: 2-4pm
Meeting time for helpers: 11.45am at Stadium MRT, you'll be meeting for lunch.

For those going for the gospel rally in the evening, it starts at 6pm, not 7.30pm (sorry but I really need to emphasize this because from what I've heard around, there have been quite a few misconceptions).

Transport from church to indoor stadium: meet in church at 5pm. Advanced booking is necessary.

Going directly, and meeting for dinner: Call xj when you reach, preferably before 5.15pm.

Going directly: 6pm, please don't be late

Since I'm a bit free now, I shall attempt to revive this blog.

This Saturday, we'll be meeting at Bishan MRT at 3pm, or if you want to go directly, Macritchie Resevoir at 3.30pm. It should end before 6pm, and we can go to Junction 8 for dinner after that. Sounds good, yea?

We'll be having another exciting jiao you, but this time, geared at helping you guys learn about the importance of doing your quiet time, and how to get about doing it.

Hi TF!

Since it's already Saturday, I shall just start telling you guys what to expect next week. So for next week, we'll be learning about street evangelism. I know the last 2 words must have seemed intimitating to some of us, but fret not, because we'll be able to learn more about it and hopefully, address your fears.

We have Study Sessions every Saturday from 2-4pm in church so that everyone can go study together and help each other out. This isn't compulsory, and you can come anytime in between. Don't worry about not being able to get anything done because the committee will do its best to ensure that there is serious studying going on. Any questions, please approach Xiao Jun.

It's been an exhausting week for me so far. What about all of you?

Hi TF,

Merry Christmas!

Firstly, I want to thank all of you for your prayers while the mission trip team were away in 大谷地. We arrived safely and were in relatively good health. I had a good time learning about the people and culture there. Helping the people there, especially children, gave me great joy. If you guys are free next year, I really encourage you to experience the mission trip for yourself. There are many valuable lessons to be learnt and experiences to go through.

Next, it's Christmas again! Christmas is a time of sharing, so do take the opportunity to share the joy of Christmas with those around you. For example, tell your non-Christian relatives about what Christmas is all about.

This Saturday (26 Dec) , we'll be having 诗歌赞美会. Let's close 2009 with worship and thanksgiving. Do think about what you want to thank God for.

Please remember Guo Feng, Jacky and their families in your prayers. They just flew off to New Zealand yesterday (24 Dec) and will be returning on 1 Jan 2010.

Finally, please also pray for 玉慧传道 who has gone back to Taiwan for her holiday. She'll be back 7 Jan 2010.

Hi TF!

Now every one's off for holidays! Oh wait, I'm sorry, I think those in ploy are still having school.

Nevertheless, don't you all feel excited that Christmas is coming? (I'm quite excited..)

Anyway, I just wanted to remind all of you that we'll be having 个人布道 this Saturday. In preparation for this, please read up on the story of Christmas (can be found in Bible) so that we can share with those in our neighbourhood on what Christmas is about. I think this will be a great opportunity for us to share the gospel since it's quite related to a major holiday just round the corner (Christmas!).

To better prepare ourselves for each TF meeting, I'd like to request that those who are in charge of the programme for the week (including pianist and worship leader etc) come at least half an hour earlier to set up the place and get ready, which by 4pm. Starting with this week, those who would need to be in church by 4pm are Siling and Yuxin. Those who can come earlier may help set up chairs and projector etc.

Please continue to pray for:

Huisi and her sister who are in China visiting their relatives. Pray for safety and a good time of relaxation and interaction with their relatives
Xiao Jun's father who is still recovering from his recent illness
2010 TF committee, that they'll be able to commit to their responsibilities and lead our fellowship to grow in spiritual maturity

Guess what's on for 郊游 this Saturday...

This Saturday's 郊游 will be held at East Coast Park! You can expect a fun time building sand castles and and also, building closer bonds. We will be meeting at Bedok interchange, beside the food centre at 1pm. I think it's advisable to bring sun block or hats if you want to keep out the sun. Also, please feel free to contribute any sand-castle-building equipment if you happened to save some from your childhood play-box. If you intend to rent a bicycle to cycle, please bring at least $6. How's everyone doing so far? I hope you're all doing fine.

For those who are already enjoying your holidays (Secondary):

Make good use of this holiday to relax and unwind. Spend time with your family, and also with God. If you haven't been doing your devotion regularly, now's the time to do so! If you need help on materials or anything, please feel free to approach the 灵修 exco (Jean and Jasmine) or dao shis for help.

For those who are still having school (JC/poly/O level):

Continue to work hard because your reward (holidays) will come soon. Do your best and let God do the rest. Which reminds me of a song... In Christ Alone.

If you've been doing well in school so far, remember to give thanks to God. Because "in every victory, let it be said of me, my source of strength, my source of hope, is Christ alone". If you haven't really done well, just remember that everything happens for a greater purpose. It's through trying times that God shapes us.

Finally, if you have any prayer requests, please feel free to leave a tag.

1. Those who are taking the O Levels. They include sec 4s, as well as sec 3 higher Chinese people. Hi,

It has been quite some time since this blog has last been updated. Something got into me and I had the sudden urge to revive this blog.

I haven't really thought of anything meaningful to post about, but I thought of posting some pictures of last Saturday's activity (ripped from Jean's blog).

Introducing the "Golden Ox". Important and must note: the tomatoes are actually filled with rice!

And this is scene where Moses (the carrot guy with the lettuce cape) leads the Israelites across the "red sea". The noodles are the waves and the soldiers are left behind in the sea.

I must say, our cooking is really not bad. More importantly, no one went to church with a stomach ache on Sunday. Now that was an accomplishment.

I'm here to do a sharing.

I was reading from this small booklet which always comes with the daily bread.

This time round, it was called "When You Don't Know What To Say--Comforting Someone Who Is Suffering". The envelope was delivered to the wrong address to one of my neighbours, and that person kindly dropped it at my door. Thank God it arrived and that person didn't throw it away just bacause it doesn't belong to him.

So I started reading this morning on the way to school and then when I was on my way back home from school.

This booklet is teaching us, through the story of Job, on how to offer words of comfort and encouragement when our friends are hurting in those awful moments. And awful, I mean life and death, not just because she broke a nail.
If you don't have any background context, please do read the book of Job. It's a really interesting book. This is the summary of the book of Job in my bible...

Considered both a theological and a literary masterpiece, the book of Job is an honest discussion of why God allows good people to suffer. The test of Job's faith, allowed by God in response to a challenge from Satan, revealed God's loving sovereignty and the supremacy of divine wisdom over human wisdom (personified by Job's four friends). Believing in God is good despite the apparent evidence to the contrary, Job rested in faith alone. In the depths of agony he could still proclaim, "I know my Redeemer lives" (19:25). In the end God silenced all discussion with the truth that he alone is wise. Yet he vindicated Job's trust in him, proving that genuine faith cannot be destroyed.

Job was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil.
He was a man with a character of integrity who was living an ideal life. Financially, he was very wealthy. Spiritually, he walked with God and prayed regularly for his 10 children.

But after the dialogue between God and Satan, Job's life is about to change and here comes the rest of the story. His life would never be the same.

God had allowed Satan to scrutinise Job's life and to pay special attention to his character as Satan said that Job's loyalty was not genuine but the result of God building a protective hedge of blessing around him and his family. However, God still drew the boundary that Satan was not to take away Job's life, but still allowed enormous latitude.

Job did not know about this conversation or agreement between Satan and God. We know it as it was stated in the bible. But remember, Job didn't know anything. What would happen if you were in his shoes as his hedge of blessing collapse? Will you trust God, or deny Him straight in His face?

People often turn to the book of Job to try to find definitive answers to the issue of human suffering, but there won't be answers there. In fact, people will discover a story about relentless faith in God despite a hurricane of trouble.

Job lost...

-HIS POSSESSIONS in terms of his herd of 7000 sheep, 3000 camels, 1000oxen and 500 donkeys. & imagine the pastureland he had available to care for these animals!

-HIS CHILDREN he had 10 children, 7 sons & 3 daughters. His family was closely knitted and Job would pray for each and everyone of them. However, during a family feast, a tragedy occurred and all 10 of his children were killed.

-HIS HEALTH Sores grew all over Job, from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. He had to go outside the city and reside with the lepers.

-HIS MARRIAGE His wife witnessed what God have done for Job and his family and may have felt that the mishaps on Job were too much, so she simply said: "Curse God and die!" (2:9). Only those who have stood beside the bed of a suffering loved one will fully understand the heart of Job's wife. It's a cry from someone bonded by love to the one who is sick. We must remember that God can handle our anger as he might have handled Job's wife's.

And how do we comfort someone who is suffering?

We can..

GIVE OUR PRESENCE. Job's friends came and met up at some form of cost, be it monetary, or changes in their time and schedule to coordinate. Your decision to visit a hurting friend may not be easy. But he/she needs someone near who cares. So if the Spirit of God prompts us to go, we must go--even if it's inconvenient.

SIT IN SILENCE. There is nothing wrong with silence. Silence can encourage a bonding of hearts with the one who is hurting. You may just hug the person, sit with them in silence, or leave simply by saying, "I love you!"

LISTEN. Listen, but don't attempt to fix the issues by yourself. You have to listen to his/her heart, the heart issue. You can always come up with a reply like this: "I don't have an answer to the complex problem of human suffering. But I will listen to your heart. I care deeply for you in this season of pain. I'm here for you!" Listen to your friend, choose your words thoughtfully.

What do we say?

DON'T PLAY GOD. There are no easy answers.
Some suffering comes because we're living in a fallen world. Sometimes trouble comes because God is building our character. Still other struggles come to us just because we are Christians. Sometimes our suffering is teaching us to rely on God's power. Sometimes we may feel that something needs to be said, but we need to refrain from attempting to explain the inexplicable. When we try to provide answers that only God Himself can give, we're playing God. Only our sovereign and loving Lord knows the reasons for someone's suffering. He has his purpose and plan. Let's not act like we know God's mind about the reasons for someone else's suffering. Don't play God.

DON'T BE SUPERFICIAL. Our motives may be admirable, but a grieving hard is untouched by slogans.

REFLECT HOPE.
To those filled with shame, " Grace and forgiveness can come your way."
To those bound up in destructive habits, "When the Son sets you free, you'll be free indeed."
To the weak, "Strength from God-the Strength-Giver- can be yours for the asking."
To the weary, "Jesus promises rest for your soul."
To the poor, richness of spirit.
To the lacking, provision in due time.
To the grieving, consolation and comfort.
To the sick and dying, eternal life and new bodies in the life hereafter.

Words like these, when hope has just about vanished, can be a priceless gift to the sufferer if shared sensitively at the appropriate time.
The most help we can give our friends when they are going through difficult times is to place them in the arms of our wise and caring God. That's where hope is found.

SPEAK KINDLY. Speak words that are kind but truthful, compassionate but honest. Speak words from your heart.

SHARE HONESTLY. When our loved ones are suffering, have serious questions about what is happening to them. Because tragedy will take them on an emotional roller-coaster ride, it is important to listen, to be sensitive to their feelings, and to allow them to lead the conversation. It could also be helpful to cautiously, yet courageously ask what questions they are struggling with. Do they have doubts and fears of the unknown? Some with terminal illness have confessed their need to talk to someone about their condition and how they are feeling. They want a friend who will ask them about their fears and about dying. This is written by Jackie about his feelings of the camp (By the request of Xiao Jun)
"Our fellowship camp in the March hols ended in a blink of an eye. Personally, the experiences and lessons I have gained right from the first day we started preparing till the very last moments of the camp are filled with blessings.

The main thrust and core of our camp is really to set apart a time out of our busy lives, filled with complicated and menial struggles, sanctify it in the presence of and fellowship with God. Thus our theme – “Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalms 46:10.

And that is really a lesson we all must spend our lives learning. It’s easy to say that we know God factually. Many people acknowledge that they are Christians and that they know that there is a God our there. But how many of them truly experience God? If we look into our own lives, do we get frustrated easily because of some difficulty that suddenly appears? Do we become angry and impatient when things are not as ideal as we would like them to be? I have learnt that if you truly know and trust that God, who is the sovereign God, all-powerful, all-good and all-wise, is your Father and that He as your loving Father always takes care of you, then we really should not be worrying about things in our lives.

“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him!” – Matthew 7:11

This is what makes us different from others who do not know God. This is the meekness that characterized Jesus Christ. He was always gentle and meek because He knew that all things were in the Father’s hands. Likewise, we do not fret when we do not have the grades that we want, the money we wish for, the luxuries/enjoyments of life. Because these are not the kind of things that our Father wants to give us, nor is it the kind of things we seek for. Our Father wants to give us greater blessings than all these, blessings that will last for eternity and will satisfy our souls completely, not these worldly things that will pass and fade away.

“Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” – Matthew 6:33

Yes, His kingdom and His righteousness are the great blessings He wants us to pursue after. He wants to give us Himself! And this is really a blessing far greater than the worldly things we ask for…

So these are the principles behind our camp, and these are the principles I fervently pray that all of us will take away and remember in our hearts. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him” (Romans 8:28) and that “He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all – how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32).

Therefore, be still. Trust in Him: the sovereign Lord, holy and true. Not matter what happens in our lives, we know that we will always have the only thing that matters in this world – God Himself.

Lastly, a big THANK YOU to all of you who participated in the camp and hope you have had a great experience! J

Uncommon Strong Winds in Singapore
And I came across this part of the article that made me really worried for the ministry in 泰北，大谷地, where we went for mission trip recently.
In Thailand, the cold snap has been severe and news reports on Wednesday said temperatures have fallen to 2 degrees Celsius in the north, killing five people and prompting the authorities to declare an emergency zone across half the country.
It's pretty serious there I guess. Thailand seems quite affected by it.

So let's just keep them in prayer, for all those in 泰北，大谷地!

Below is an article of how even the rich turn to Jesus for spiritual nourishment and fulfillment. Material wealth is insufficient to satisfy a hungry soul.

A lot of times, the church helps the poor and the underprivileged, highlighting that even in the absence of basic needs, Jesus provides, heals and helps. However, equally important is the fact that the wealthy also need Jesus and they're even harder to reach out to because they have so much in abundance that they see no need for a God in their lives. That's the scary part- when you think you have it all, you really don't at all.

Then, there are the skeptics who persuade people to stop thinking about the existence of God, and to continue living their lives as if this lifetime is the only thing that matters.

Please voice out any violent objection(s) to Lynn as soon as possible, latest by Thursday, via IM/SMS/call/email/tagboard/land mail etc. If there are no objections, I can get the final quotation by Saturday and then tell all of you the exact price. Psychology Experiment Reflecting Human Nature

It's a pretty famous psychology experiment in the 70s and has now become a classic case in research ethics.

Prisoner-warden psychology is explored here and you see how 3 days into the experiment and the subjects are totally into their role. These guys signed up voluntarily and those who became 'wardens' had no prior experience in prison training, yet they were capable of inflicting monstrous torture and humiliation on their fellow schoolmates. The more pressing discussion question it raises is: what makes a human being able to perform such atrocities to a another human being. Think guatanamo, holocaust and nanking. Humans are perhaps, evil by nature, an inheritance from our predessor, cain.

Please feel free to share your views on this research article. There are some discussion questions on every slide that do make us think more deeply about human nature.

A short summary: this article talks about how Christians in an Indian district are being treated for believing in God. Their lives are in constant danger and the only way to free themselves from such hardship, is through giving up their Christian faith.

As we live in Singapore today, let's not take for granted our peaceful and safe nation. People of different faiths are able to live together harmoniously, and we are also free to spread the gospel. Let's remember to thank God for giving us a peaceful environment in which we can worship and serve Him. However, we shouldn't forget our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world who are fighting for God, and going through much suffering. Let's continue to keep them in our prayers, and we, ourselves, do a good job in spreading the gospel in such optimum conditions. ~lynn

Timothy Fellowship Shirt (detailed finalisation but still open to any violent objections)

Here is our TF shirt Logo. It will be at the front of the shirt, top left hand corner. Small print.

Here's the back. It will be made bigger. This was actually supposed to be a logo. But we couldn't get any design for the back. Any violent objections, please let me know. If we are okay with this, I will start taking orders for everyone so please try to look for me and let me know your t-shirt size. The design was based on ideas some of us gave Timothy. It is based on our fellowship mission. "Flower" is depicting our youth, growing with God's word.

Actually, if we are all okay with a plain shirt with just a logo (using the back picture), please also let me know. This combination was decided at the committee meeting but if anyone thinks it looks weird, please voice your suggestions to me. The shirt will be as voted the last time, 100% cotton, no collar. The base colour of the shirt was discussed by some people. We have decided on gray.

I'll start asking all of you formally this Saturday, so please have some mental preparation. It is not compulsory to buy the shirt (it won't be more than $10) but all who are members of Timothy Fellowship are encouraged to do so. This will create a sense of belonging, as well as an identity. Those who may have any problems purchasing the shirt can approach a dao shi. I hope to get the shirt details finalised by the end of October so that we can get the long awaited TF shirts done by this year.

Due to the ongoing milk problem in China that's affecting the poor children there, here's some quotes from an article to illustrate what the tainted milk has caused and what has happened to the kids there.

Nearly 53,000 Chinese children sickened by milk powder: govt

A total of 52,857 children had been brought to hospitals after falling ill.

Most had received outpatient care and had "basically recovered" but 12,892 remained hospitalised.

The ministry added that 104 of those babies were in serious condition after consuming dairy products tainted with the industrial chemical melamine.

Eighty-two percent of the nearly 53,000 affected babies were under the age of two, a health ministry statement said.

Melamine, which is normally used in making plastics, was first found in infant formula in Chinese markets but has since been detected in a wide range of products with dairy ingredients both in China and abroad.

The scandal stems from the practice of adding melamine to watered-down milk to give it the appearance of higher protein levels.

The discovery has led to mass product recalls both in China and in several other countries that had imported the tainted goods.

The Chinese government also has announced tighter quality inspections across the dairy sector.--

Do pray that the government in China would take moves to ensure the number of children getting sick would decrease and this would not affect other babies in the region.

many of u are tired out in school/home/work... yet kindly take on additional responsibilities in church as zhiyuan, zuzhang, active zuyuan... or simply coming to TF though u are tired after Mondays to Fridays...

so.. this is for u....

Some people have a JOB in church; others involve themselves in a MINISTRY

If you quit because somebody criticized you, it was a JOB.
If you keep on serving, it's a MINISTRY.

If you quit because no one praised you or thanked you, it was a JOB.
If you stay with it even though nobody recognizes your efforts, it is a MINISTRY.

What's the difference?

If you are doing it just because no one else will, it's a JOB.
If you are doing it to serve the LORD, it's a MINISTRY.

If you'll do it only as long as it does not interfere with your other activities, it's a JOB.
If you are committed to staying with it even when it means letting go of other things, it is a MINISTRY.
(this applies esp to your mere attendance.. do u come to TF or cell only if u are free and have nothing better to do?)

It's hard to get excited about a JOB.
It's almost impossible not to get excited about a MINISTRY.

If our concern is success, it's a JOB.
If our concern is faithfulness, it's a MINISTRY.

An average church is filled up with people doing JOBs.
A great and growing churchis filled with people involved in MINISTRY.

where we do fit in? What about us?

If God calls you to a MINISTRY, don't treat it like a JOB.
If you have a JOB, give it up and find a MINISTRY.

God does not want us feeling stuck with a JOB, but excited and faithful to Him in a MINISTRY.

we do not read the Bible for guidance like a law book... we read the Bible to know first how much God love us.. we love because he first love us.. so after we love him, we want to please him out of gratitude...

so if u dunno God's love.. it is very difficult to want to follow his ways with your own effort...

we pray we all experience God's love for us.. try to obey him in your life and see how he guide u.. then the Bible will become alive for u.. and you will see God very real in your life too...

The only time they call it "St. Valentine's Day" anymore is when they're referring to Al Capone's Chicago massacre on Feb. 14, 1929. In all other contexts these days, it's just plain "Valentine's Day," a secular celebration in which sweethearts of all faiths and none shower each other with candy, cards, expensive dinners, and heart-festooned underwear that can't be worn without embarrassment on any other day of the year. The "St." in St. Valentine's Day that once gave it a uniquely Christian significance has quietly, and perhaps unfortunately, disappeared. How did this happen?

Until fairly recently, St. Valentine actually was a full-fledged Catholic saint, albeit an obscure one, and Feb. 14 was his time-honored feast day. Because St. Valentine was believed to have been an early Christian martyr, the priests saying Mass on that day wore red vestments symbolizing his martyr's blood. The red of the vestments became the color of St. Valentine's Day. And because St. Valentine was thought to have had something vaguely to do with love (no one was really sure what), red hearts, symbols of love, became ubiquitous on St. Valentine's Day, especially after the greeting card industry discovered him during the 1840s and started marketing commercial "valentines"--the lacy greeting cards bearing Cupids and romantic verses that we know so well.

Then, after the Second Vatican Council, the Catholic Church, embarrassed by the presence of saints on its calendar who might never have existed, booted the already shadowy St. Valentine from his Feb. 14 slot. Into his place, the Church moved saints Cyril and Methodius, two bishop-brothers who had brought Christianity to the Slavs of Eastern Europe during the ninth century. There was never any doubt as to saints Cyril's and Methodius's existence, or of their heroic virtue. The brothers braved years of political and religious persecution as they preached the Gospel. St. Methodius translated the Bible and other Christian works into Slavonic, which is still the liturgical language of many Eastern churches, and St. Cyril is credited with the invention of the Cyrillic alphabet used by Bulgarians, Russians, and Serbs. The priests saying Mass on Feb. 14 switched to white vestments in honor of the brothers' holiness.

Jesus brought physical healing to many people... physical healing is possible today, along with other kinds of healing - spiritual, emotional and mental.

Jesus is more than a healer, He comes to teach about the truth concering God and Himself... but the Leper spreading the news of his healing prevented others from listening to his preaching.

The Leper story reminds us even if something is true, we should not communicate it however we want if it disobeys God's direction... (if it does not edifies, hurt people, interrupt execution of godly plans as in the case of Nehemiah)

Jesus is more than a healer, He is God who forgives sin.

The paralytic's story shows us Jesus' nature - He looks not only on the faith of the individual, but also of the group (the 4 friends), and His compassion moves Him to forgive.

(Divine Healing is a sign and wonder... all signs point to something... in this case, it points to Jesus as God. Healing for the sake of healing alone does not solve the issue of death coz our bodies are but tents in this transcient world.)

last sunday, QYDS, brother sunny and i were talking about praying...

Question: how do we pray when we say God's will be done... then why bother to pray? even if u don't pray, God's will will be done what?

Attempted Answer: it is some-what like appeals?

Appeals happen when a legal, rightful decision has been made and you apply for reconsideration to the decision.

like when a criminal sentenced to his deserved punishment or a student expelled from school after repetitive warnings.

both cases have clear objective spelled-out conditions... so when the person receives the sentence, he/she cannot say it is not fair...

However, the court and institution allow appeals...

And such appeals are sincerely seriously considered by the authority in charged.. it is not fake or just for show... as in.. give u a chance to appeal.. but they won't even bother considering coz they are justified for the earlier decision...

But, the authority though has the right to earlier decision accordingly to law.. DO consider appeal for each case seriously... and in the end.. some appeals does go thru successfully...

But if the person never bother to appeal.. he/she miss the chance for second re-consideration..

u guys following?

So, as fallen men in fallen world, there are sickness leading to death...

Yet, we are given the priviledge to appeal thru prayer... the right to the appeal is due to Christ's Work on the Cross.

Thus, we can appeal and believe God is seriously considering our appeals... for the sake of Jesus.

He will reconsider the course... based both on His supreme knowledge of what is the best coz we pray for the best to happen PLUS consideration our co-work with Him thru the mysterious ministry of prayer (Daniel's prayer brought about spiritual warefare and responses of angels).

(Prayer is Co-working with God... how? this is a mystery... but prayer does move God in a certain way...)

when we say God's will be done.. we are not referring to His decided will.. but we are saying we submit to His right to make the best decision.

so.. pray on..

hi.

elder tan came back this morning... saying Doc says, if go thru dialysis, can add 3 more weeks... if not, maybe sometimes this week...

the only Christian in her family is her second sister from Riverlife Church.
Her church elder came to annoint XJLS with oil yesterday.

the family knows the only way to save her is through Divine Healing.

Elder Tan says our church stand believes in divine healing.

So, Elder Tan, Yanling and I pray for her to be healed.

Yet, the family discuss briefly with Elder Tan of the service. (even though XJLS not a member at our church, we will handle it. Elder Tan says since Chimes and her so close, maybe you guys can take one service)

I find the mention of it repulsive.. but necessary...

dear friends, if we need to cry.. cry.. no need to pretend to be cheerful...

we will miss her if she leaves.. but she will be as chirpy and happy wherever God brings her..

BUT.. she may not leave so soon!!!

dear all prayer warriors,

about yesterday:
Xiujuan Chuan Dao was admitted to hospital yesterday morning because her tube at the back that allow urine to come out caused inflamation, thus fever.

She has a 1-hour procedure to replace the tube 830-930pm.

when I see her about 10pm, she is tired after the procedure.

As news got out, many people were there - her NAFA classmates, cousins, SBC classmates, sisters, nephews and nieces, sister's church members... (before i arrived, Elder Tan, wife, Lizhen Chuan Dao, Manxian Jie, Deacon Yougang were there too)

I asked two of the sisters staying with her the conditions now:

Doctor says her kidney is down (thus need the tube), her complaints of backache also due to cancerous cells there. The family thinks her mental state seems to be confused past few days. Doctor feels that is a bad sign too and asks the family to be prepared .

My assessment of the condition:

She is still chirpy and cheerful, just tired after the hour long procedure. (great contrast with the other patients in the same ward)

I went up to say, "hey, sister, you rest well, Timothians are praying for you" (so u guys continue praying huh!!!) That woke her up from her sleepiness (felt a bit guilty)... And she discovered the crowd surrounding her and starting greeting everyone!

Coz her specs is not on, she cannot recognise someone... but i personally think that is not coz she is confused.. hey.. give our sister a break.. she just came from a procedure leh!!! and no specs leh!!! but she recognise most people after putting her specs on.. and says to those she momentarily can't recall, "it will come back slowly"

then she calls me by name to her.. so I told her again.. our church is praying for her.. Elder Tan refers her as the one Jesus loved (in John 11, what Lazarus was called.. Lazarus was delayed in healing but Jesus still heals after he was DEAD 4 days)... and the youths (aka you guys) are praying for her... so she stopped trusting the sight, and just simply believe by faith in healing... (coz she ever asked me what you guys are praying.. and knowing she believes in healing as she shared with me them upteen times.. i told her i asked you guys to continue to pray for healing still).

I mean... an appeal is an appeal.. we pray for the best... for the time being.. put away all the rationalisation and just believe in healing... like Daniel's friends thru the fire... we know God can heal.. But if not, we know He has the best plan... but it is His commands we can pray and intercede fervently...

so.. dearies.. I urge all to pray for her to continually enjoy the Divine joy, peace and love... and her second sister's church came to annoint her with oil like James 5 says... we shall wait to see what happens.. but I pray we don't just be pessimistic.. but know she may still be healed .. but if not.. we know Jesus is with her all the time.. (like Daniel's friends in Daniel 3 and they were rescued in the end)

Conventional wisdom says teens don't like church because they find it boring. So they must be lured in with entertainment. Apparently, that strategy failed. A study published the Barna Group shows 61 percent of American twentysomethings attended church as teens but no longer attend, read the Bible, or pray.

"The point (was) not to do anything too weighty that would turn kids off," Chanon Ross, youth director at Knox Presbyterian Church in Naperville, Illinois, said, challenging the concept in an essay titled "Jesus Is Not Cool." The old goal was to "keep it light; keep it fun … while simultaneously conveying a positive, family-friendly alternative to things like MTV." Ross blames this for the exodus. In that environment, "teens don't need Jesus to be crucified and raised from the dead in order to have positive outcomes and pursue family-friendly alternatives to MTV."

Even more alarming, many teens are now unable to differentiate between the gospel and the pop-culture box they receive it in. In Soul Searching: The Religious and Spiritual Lives of American Teenagers, authors Christian Smith and Melinda Lundquist Denton identify most church teens as "at best only tenuously Christian." Instead of worshiping the holy God of the Bible, most teens follow "a combination Divine Butler and Cosmic Therapist"—someone to solve their problems and ensure happiness. They call this belief system "Moralistic Therapeutic Deism," and claim it is rampant among American teenagers.

Going Hard Core
To reverse the trend, Time reports some churches are focusing more on teaching. Ben Calmer vetoed the purchase of a pool table after he became youth pastor of Shoreline Christian Center in Austin, Texas. The teens don't seem to miss the entertainment, as attendance doubled to 160 in the 18 months Calmer has been on the job.

When Chris Reed failed to convert a single student during a 12-month span as youth pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Bellflower, California, he decided to make a change. Reed restructured his program around heavier doses of doctrine and adult mentoring. Youth rolls expanded from 70 to over 200 in a period of 6 years, with 64 teens accepting Christ in a single year. More important, his students are growing spiritually.

"Teens have so much to give," he said. "People need to realize that youth are not the church of tomorrow; they're the church of today."

THE HABIT OF BIBLE READING (part 3)

Helps to Bible Study. The Bible is a big book, in reality a library of books, of the far distant past. And we need all the help we can get in trying to understand it. A Bible Dictionary, of the right kind, is the best of helps. A Commentary, of the right kind, is most valuable. And every one should have a Concordance.
But even so, it is surprising how largely the Bible is Self-Interpretive when we know what is in it. There are difficulties a plenty in the Bible, even beyond the comprehension of the most erudite. But, for all that, the Main Teachings of the Bible are unmistakable, so plain that “wayfaring men, though fools, need not err therein.”

Accept the Bible Just As It Is, for Exactly What It Claims To Be. Don’t worry about the theories of the critics. The ingenious and impudent effort of modern criticism to undermine the historical reliability of the Bible will pass; and the BIBLE ITSELF will still Stand as the Light of the Human Race to the End of Time. Pin your faith to the Bible. It is God’s Word. It will never let you down. For men, it is the Rock of Ages. Trust its teachings; and be happy forever.

Read the Bible with an Open Mind. Don’t try to straight-jacket all its passages into the mold of a few pet doctrines. And don’t read into its passages ideas that are not there, not even for a sermon. But try to search out fairly and honestly the main teachings and lessons of each passage. Thus we will come to believe what we ought to believe; for the Bible is abundantly able to take care of itself, if given a chance.

Read the Bible Thoughtfully. In Bible reading, we need to watch ourselves very closely, lest our thoughts wander, and our reading become perfunctory and meaningless. We must determine resolutely to keep our minds on what we are reading, doing our best to form an intelligent conception of it, and being on the lookout for lessons for ourselves.

Keep a Pencil at Hand. It is a good thing, as we read, to mark passages we like; and, now and then, run through the pages, and review, and re-read, passages thus marked. In time a well-marked Bible will become very dear to us, as the day draws near for us to meet the Author.

Habitual, Systematic Reading of the Bible is what counts. Occasional, or Spasmodic, reading does not mean much. Unless we have some sort of System to follow, and hold to it with Resolute Determination, the chances are that we will not read the Bible any too much. Our Inner Life, like our fleshly body, needs its Daily Food.

A Certain Time Each Day, whatever our plan of reading, should be set aside for it. Otherwise we are apt to neglect it.
First thing in the morning is good, if our routine of work permits. Or, in the evening, at the close of the day’s work, we might find ourselves freer from the strain of hurry.
Or, maybe, both morning and evening. For some, a period in the middle of the day might be more suitable.
The particular time of day does not greatly matter. The important thing is that we choose a time that best fits in with our daily round of work; and that we try to hold ourselves to it, and not be discouraged if now and then our routine is broken into by things beyond our control.
On Sundays, we might do a good part of our Bible Reading, as it is the Lord’s Day, set aside for the Lord’s Work.

Memorize the Names of the Bible Books. Do this very first thing. The Bible is composed of sixty-six books. Each of these books is about Something. The starting point for any sort of intelligent conception of the Bible is, first of all, to know what those books are, and the order in which they are arranged, and, in a general way, what each one is about.

Memorize Favorite Verses. Thoroughly memorize them, and often repeat them to ourselves, verses that we live on: sometimes when we are alone; or, in the night, to help put ourselves to sleep on the Everlasting Arms.
To run God’s thoughts through our mind often will make our mind grow like God’s mind; and, as our mind grows like God’s mind, our whole life will be transformed into His image. It is one of the very best spiritual helps we can have.

he point us to Acts 12:5 where the church pray fervently for Peter... then Acts 12:15 where the church do not believe Peter is delievered...

it reminded me of our prayer for XJLS... i mean.. i confess.. i am wishing all of us to pray fervently for her... but somehow.. i know... many of us don't believe she will be delivered...

i dunno if it is bad hermenutics.. but hey.. the church did not believe Peter will be delivered but God send an angel to deliver him anywhere.. so prayer is not dependent on our faith? just pray like Luke 18:1-12 (Elder Tan's passage on 31 Dec 07).... and wait for God's deliverance...

THE HABIT OF BIBLE READING (part 2)

We May, Indeed, Absorb Christian Truth, in some measure, by attending religious services, listening to sermons, Bible lessons, testimonies, and reading Christian literature.

But, in these things, however good and helpful they may be, we are receiving God’s Truth SECOND-HAND, diluted through human channels, and, to quite an extent, glossed over with human ideas and traditions.

Such things cannot possibly take the place of our Reading for Ourselves the BIBLE ITSELF, and grounding, for Ourselves, our Faith and Hope and Life, Directly on God’s Word, rather than on what men say about God’s Word.

God’s Word Itself is the Weapon of the Spirit of God for the Redemption and Perfection of the human soul. It is not enough to listen to others talk and teach and preach about the Bible. We need to keep ourselves, Every One of us, in Direct Touch with God’s Word. It is the Power of God in our hearts.

Bible Reading is a Basic Christian Habit. We do not mean that we should worship the Bible as a fetish; but we do worship the God and the Saviour that the Bible tells us about. And because we Love our God and our Saviour that the Bible tells us about. And because we Love our God and our Saviour, we Love Dearly and Devotedly the Book that is from Him and about Him.

Nor do we mean that the Habit of Bible Reading is in itself a virtue; for it is possible to read the Bible without applying its teachings to one’s own life; and there are those who read the Bible, and yet are mean and crooked and un-Christian. But they are the exception.

As a rule, Bible Reading, if done in the right spirit, is a Habit out of which All Christian Virtues Grow, the Most Effective Character-Forming Power known to men.

As an Act of Religious Devotion. Our attitude toward the Bible is a pretty sure indication of our attitude toward Christ. If we Love a person, we love to Read about him, do we not?

If we could only bring ourselves to think of our Bible Reading as an act of devotion to Christ, we might be inclined to treat the matter less lightly.

It is a Glorious thing to be a Christian. The Most Exalted Privilege any mortal man can have is to Walk Through Life Hand in Hand with Christ as Saviour and Guide; or, to put it more correctly, to toddle along at His side, and, though always stumbling, Never Letting Go of His Hand.

This personal relation of each of us to Christ is one of the Intimate things of life, and we do not talk much about it, probably because we realize that we are so pitifully unworthy to wear His Name. But deep down in our hearts, in our serious moods, we know that, in spite of our weakness, our worldliness, our frivolity, our selfishness, and our sins, we love Him more than we love anything else in the world; and in our saner moments, we feel that we would not willingly offend or hurt Him for anything. But we are thoughtless.

Well, now, the Bible is the Book that tells about Christ. Is it possible to Love Christ, and at the same time be complacently indifferent to His Word? IS IT POSSIBLE?

The Bible is the Best Devotional Book. Booklets for daily devotions, now advertised so abundantly by various denominational publishing houses, may have their place. But they are No Substitute for the Bible. The Bible is God’s Own Word. And no other book can take its place. Every Christian, young and old, should be a Faithful Reader of the Bible.

George Muller, who, in his Orphanages in Bristol, England, did, by Prayer and Trust, one of the most remarkable things in Christian history, attributed his success, on the human side, to his love for the Bible. He said:
“I believe that the one chief reason that I have been kept in happy useful service is that I have been a lover of Holy Scripture. It has been my habit to read the Bible through four times a year; in a prayerful spirit, to apply it to my heart, and practice what I find there. I have been for sixty-nine years a happy man; happy, happy, happy.”

THE HABIT OF BIBLE READING (part I)

Everybody ought to Love the Bible. Everybody ought to Read the Bible. Everybody. It is God’s Word. It holds the Solution of Life. It tells about the Best Friend mankind ever had, the Noblest, Kindest, Truest Man that ever trod this earth.

It is the Most Beautiful Story ever told. It gives a Meaning, and a Glow, and a Joy, and a Victory, and a Destiny, and a Glory, to life elsewhere unknown.

There is nothing in history, or in literature, that in any wise compares with the simple annals of the Man of Galilee, who spent his days and nights ministering to the Suffering, teaching Human Kindness, Dying for Human Sin, Rising to Life that Shall Never End, and promising Eternal Security and Eternal Happiness to all who will Come to Him.

Most people, in their serious moods, must have some wonderment in their minds as to how things are going to stack up when the End comes. Laugh it off, toss it aside, as we may, THAT DAY WILL COME. And THEN WHAT? Well, it is the Bible that has the answer. And an unmistakable answer it is. There is a God. There is a Heaven. There is a Hell. There is a Saviour. There Will be a Day of Judgment. Happy the man, who, in the days of his flesh, makes his peace with the Christ of the Bible, and gets himself ready for the Final Take-Off.

How can any thoughtful person keep his heart from warming up to Christ, and to the Book that tells about Him? Everybody ought to love the Bible. Everybody. EVERYBODY.

Yet Widespread Neglect of the Bible by churches and by church people is just simply appalling. Oh, we talk about the Bible, and defend the Bible, and praise the Bible, and exalt the Bible. Yes indeed! But many church members Seldom Ever Even Look Into a Bible, – indeed would be Ashamed to be seen Reading the Bible. And Church Leadership generally seems to be making no serious effort to get people to be Bible Readers.

Present-day Protestantism seems to Care So Little for the Book it So Loudly Professes. And Roman Catholicism avowedly prefers its own decrees above the Bible.

We are intelligent about everything else in the world. Why not be intelligent about our religion? We read newspapers, magazines, novels, and all kinds of books, and listen to the radio by the hour. Yet most of us do not even know the names of the Bible books. Shame on us! Shame on us! Worse still, the Pulpit, which could easily remedy the situation, seems, with rare exceptions, Not to Care.

Individual Direct Contact with God’s Word is the principal means of Christian Growth. All leaders of Spiritual Power in Christian History have been devoted Readers of the Bible.

The Bible is the Book we Live by. Bible Reading is the means by which we Learn, and Keep Fresh in our Minds, he IDEAS that mold our Lives. Our Lives are the product of our Thoughts. To Live Right, we need to Think right.

Thoughts have Power over our Lives by being OFTEN in our minds. We read the Bible Frequently and Regularly, so that God’s Thoughts may be Frequently and Regularly in our Minds; that His Thoughts may become Our Thoughts; that Our Ideas may become Conformed to God’s Ideas; so that we may be Transformed into God’s Own Image, and be Made Fit for Eternal Companionship with our Creator.

Operation 318... reflection and thanksgiving...

dear brothers and sisters,

this is the time of the year to reflect upon the past b4 we plan for the future...

就能和众圣徒一同领悟基督的爱是多么的长阔高深。（以弗所书3章18节）

(that you) may have the power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. (Ephesians 3:18)

Honestly, this is one of the best camps i have attended for many years...
i mean... this is a Church camp... the most important element, and what sets it apart from other camps or chalet stays... is the SPIRITUALITY of the campers...

N Spirituality comes from the Work of God cum the prayers of His people...

I thank Qingyang Daoshi for being the anchor who never stop emphasizing on prayers and encouragement for the camp committee...

I thank Peijie for being the true servant of God who ensure all loose ends are tied...

I thank Zhiren for being the faithful assistant who supports the leader in all aspects...

I thank Siling, Jianling and Lynn for being so faithful, trustworthy, diligent for carrying out all duties dutifully and without complaints...

I thank Aaron for being so humble and teacheable... carrying all the chores without complaints and in high spirit...

I thank Yang Hong Laoshi for wisely sharing insight of God's Word and Lixia Chuan Dao for painstakingly showing us Godly aspects of our relationship with God, opposite genders, friends and parents.

I thank all the group leaders (plus those who help to lead when leaders are not around and those who quietly help leaders to lead) for taking up leadership, the extra responsibility to ensuring the well-being of others in a sacrificial spirit...

I thank all the campers who have humbly worship and learn thru all the teaching sessions, enthusiatically participated all the games sportingly...

Most of all, I thank God for not giving up on us.. even though more often than not.. we worship not becoz of God.. we fellowship without God... we live as if there is no God...

May we all truly learn to grasp the love of Christ in its full intensity.. and only so.. coz we receive the power from God.. due to the foundational understanding of his sacrifical love on the Cross.. and may we show we indeed grasp it as we live it out with fellow saints...

yes.. next time when we worship.. try to sing all the "I" plurally as "we" and "us" and mean it.

Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ! Merry Christmas to all of you, may you all experience HIS love this Christmas.

The long awaited timothy fellowship camp 318 is finally here! Its our very own one and we will all ensure we will make the best out of it ya?

Here’s the list of things campers must bring

• 5-6 sets of clothing (one set of dark coloured one)
• 5-6 sets of undergarments
• Bathing towel
• Socks
• Toiletries
• Sleeping bag
• Bible
• Writing materials
• EZ link card
• Sweater optional
• Insect repellent
• Personal medication

• Umbrella/ Raincoat
• A humble heart
• A good attitude which is willing to learn

We are meeting on 18th Dec, 1330 at Pasir Ris mrt control station. Do not be late.
The bus leaves at 1400 sharp. Zhuomin will help to bring you guys to the campsite on that day. Those who fail to make it on time or plan to go there yourself please inform Qing Yang Dao Shi @ 96182425 by 16th Dec.

Finally, I would like to urge all of you to pray fervently for yourself and for the camp itself. Pray that the camp and the programs planned by committee goes smoothly.

Most importantly, pray for yourself. Pray that God opens up your heart to learn his words and to experience HIM personally during these 4 days.

People-centred Leaders: Priests

Functions - Read Leviticus 16:32-34
v32 make atonement - A Priest represents God's people to stand in between God and men to reconcile sinful men to God.

Read Deuteronomy 21:5
pronounce blessings in the name of the LORD - reconciled relationship to God
decide all cases of dispute and assault - reconcile men to men

Read Job 1:5

Dangers - Read Leviticus 10:1
Any priestly duty not commanded by the LORD is unauthorized fire or strange fire

their fire not from altar of incense (irrevernt)
- care for people in man-centred ways (failure to discipline, dote on them)
- replace relational care with materialism

OR, their positions (not high priest - unauthorized substitution)
- when we try to be the substitution (elevate ourselves)
- when we idolize leaders (think prayer of a particular person has special power)

Read Ephesians 6:4
Exasperating or provokin anger
- never good enough attitude/comparing
- not encouraging
- overbearing/ controlling

Safeguard - Read Proverbs 3:12 and 13:24
He must love his followers more than
- his own reputation (want to be well-liked)
- popularity to correct or discipline them

- verse 4, certain instruction was passed on
- verse 5, instruction of wisdom and understanding

The True Leader - Hebrew 4:14-16
Jesus is the true High Priest who continually prays for His believers. Even we may fumble in our understandings, words and motives in our prayers.

1. Have you PERSONALLY trusted in Jesus as your only Savior to bring you before God?

2. Do you trust in your own religious acts or piety to be acceptable before or be close to Him?

3. Do you lead your followers to the True Leader or do you try to replace Him by acting as a ever strong and perfect leader?

4. Do you care for your followers enough to discipline and instrust them according to God's words?

Principle-centred Leaders: Prophets

Functions - Deuteronomy 18:15-19
A Prophet is a teacher of God's law who communicate the word of God accurately to the people of God.

He is a spokesman for God - saying only what the Lord commands.

so, Biblical leaeders are led by God's principles (the Bible), not by world values, philosophies, phsychologies or management theories.

See also 1 Tim 4:13
- devote, giving quality time and effort to God's Word, so he can:
i. public communicate - getting people acquainted with God's words
ii.preaching - explaining God's word to people relevantly
iii.teaching - systematically putting across God's council

Dangers - Jeremiah 6:13-14
i. self-claim in the name of the Lord
ii. saying things out of their own minds (visions, divinations, idolatries, delusions)
iii. secret ambitions - greed or popularity -

Saying things people want to hear (eg. calling sins as weaknesses, illness or mistakes)

Reasons: greedy for gain; afraid of offending people; Afraid to lose popularity.

Safeguard - Deuteronomy 13:1-5
a. Inentions of the prophets or teacher of the Law must be examined, even if the signs come true.

b. Idolatry is the worship of other gods (money, self, fame, projects eg building)

c. What will safeguard us is the keeping of His commands v4 and not to turn from His commands v5b.

The True Leader - Acts 3:19-23
Jesus is the true prophet of God... so,
listening to JEsus through His written word and turn in repentance is expected of us.
the result is: our sins may be wiped out and there will be times of refreshing(renewed relationship with God)

Thus, Christian leaders must continue to let the words of God dwell(immerse in our mind and hearts - to be led by Christ Himself) so that we can admonish (align) God's people according to His principles.

1. Have you PERSONALLY encounted Jesus Christ as your only Savior to bring you before God?

2. What are the possible efforts you can make to study the words of Christ seriously in this holidays?

3. Are you discerning enough to all the theories that bombard you from all directions?

4. Do you lead your followers to Jesus from His words or from your own theories?

Our beloved Xiujuan CD very much covet our prayers...

in order to facilitate our praying for her... the following is the development of her situations - (conflicting symptons and signs... all the more require all of us to put our faith in God to intercede for her!!!!)

Symptons of disease-
initially only cervix got 1, but spread to lymph nodes of cervix also got, later discovered in various lymph nodes of stomach (1), lungs (few), neck (2), back (1, causing great pain and numbness in back and legs)

She believes in God for healing = both supernaturally and medically whichever God chooses!
(She is attending healing services and reading testimonies from people who have been healed miraculously.. usually people said healing services heal temporarily.. but there are testimonies who are from healed people for few years... and some of them experienced healing through removal of blood clots from bodies...)

Signs of Healing -
After persistent invitation to Lighthouse, an egg-shape blood clot came out first time 21nov, then twice again on 23 nov and 24 Nov.
On Sunday 2 Dec, she attended her sister's church, and another huge blood clot emerges.

She is feeling pain very often... however, very often when her sister prays for her, pain eases and she can even sleep! That is why she really believes in prayers from fellow pilgrims and appeals your perservering prayers for her!

We do not pretend to understand what is happening...
but let's just continue to pray on for her...

Isaiah 53:5
But HE (Jesus Christ) was wounded for our transgressions,
HE was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon HIM
And by HIS stripes, we are healed.

Matthew 8:16b-17
And HE(Jesus Christ) ... healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:
"HE HIMSELF took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses."

Disease comes into the world after the fall. It is on the basis of the finished work on the Cross now that we dare to proclaim health upon Xiujuan CD... from the Bible, we know it does happen on earth before Christ's second coming... so we just pray with faith... yet surrendering to His will.

Distinctive Leadership (2) - Biblical Leadership

Being a Leader is NOT an Option! (Genesis 1:26-28)

1. We are made in God's image.

2. Part of what that means is - to Rule over God's creation as His RepresentativeRuling means:/
- create a culture/civilization as God inteneded
- lead and direct God's world to be under God's rule

(instead, sadly, Christians today are ruled by the culture/world rather than are ruling the culture/world)

Christians learn leadership God's way-from the Bible n from Christ.

1. Purpose-Centred Leaders - King
a.functions:(2 Chronicles 1:7-10)
to lead (provide direction/purpose);
to govern (administrative);
to accomplish missionsor tasks
(Romans 14:17 - to establish God's standard of RIGHTEOUSNESS in society, PEACE between God and Men, Joy as proper attitute and repsonse in life)

b. dangers: Deu 17:14-20
Power (horses)
Pleasures (many wives)
Possessions (silver and gold)
Pride (consider himself better than his brothers)

c. Safeguard: Deut 17:18-19
to handle a personal and first hand encounter with the Word
(not borrowed convictions, not situation/positional holiness);
continuous intake of the Word

d. The True Leader is Jesus Christ (our ultimate model)1 Tim 1:12-17
v12 He considered Paul faithful for HIs service (a candidate without credibility)
v12 He gave Paul the strength to serve.
v14,16 He showed Paul grace and mercy when serving Him.
v16 He showed Paul unlimited patience.

1. Have you PERSONALLY submitted to Jesus as the King of your life and pledge to serve Him?

2. Do u give all glory to Him or do u want to share His glory?

3. Do u point your followers to Jesus rather than urselves?(power struggle w Christ)

4. Do u recognise it is by His grace n mercy that u are considered faithful in His service?

If you are not following Christ, DO NOT BE A LEADER.
